形态特征：本亚种与雅容杜鹃不同在于叶下面鳞片较疏，相距为其直径的1-6或3-6倍；花萼较小，长6毫米；蒴果也较小，长约6毫米。花期6月，果期7-8月。
产地分布：产西藏东南部。生于岩坡或灌丛中，海拔2 500-4 100米。模式标本采自米林（多雄拉山口）。
