形态特征：本变种与原变种的区别在于幼枝密被锈色绒毛，无腺体；叶常为披针形，长6-10厘米，宽1.5-2.5厘米，下面毛被厚，红棕色，毡毛状；花梗和子房疏被丛卷毛，无腺体。花期6-7月，果期9月。
产地分布：产四川木里、云南西北部和西藏东南部。生于海拔3 300-4 300米的高山杜鹃灌丛中。模式标本采自云南德钦。
